Adapting to a new way of working has lead many businesses to pivot their operations to work inline with a remote workforce. Discover some of the way Laima International Training is helping their clients pivot with these changes and meet new training needs.
As employees continue to spend the majority of their working week at home, so leadership styles and ways of working must evolve to be in harmony with this new set up.
So where does this leave training?
Employees say they have had 59% less access to workplace training since the pandemic started. This is a problem for employers since training has been shown to help retain top talent, as well as increase productivity, morale and engagement amongst the workforce. And the appetite for learning has only grown during the pandemic, as people use more of their spare time enrolling in online courses.
To deliver a course virtually requires that you are even more engaging, so that your content holds the attention when your physical presence can’t. Consider the number of tools at your disposal to achieve this. Can you use thought provoking questions to draw the audience into thinking through the problem? How can you draw the delegate into your training by building a narrative arc through course? What about the multimedia tools you have at your disposal? Interactive elements like polls, pop quizzes and creating friendly competition within the class can be the highlight of an online course.
And so as a team we have adapted to a new way of producing courses that tick these boxes. We have focussed on developing courses that are both pithy and engaging, that deliver the key points in a way that holds the attention. As a result, we have had a number of successes over the recent year, and are look forward to continuing our work in online as well as face-to-face training.
LIT's mission is to tackle some of the most important challenges we face in the media industry. We have delivered training for large international companies, broadcasting institutions and training academies. Here are some of the areas we have been focusing on:
A fast-developing and highly important area, these courses contain essential skills that, during a time of mass misinformation and distrust, can have a real impact on life and death decisions. This training includes strategies and tools for recognising and debunking fake content, verifying people, accounts and user-generated content, and dealing with deepfakes. With input from experts in investigation, these course have real world impact, and are among LIT’s most distinctive achievements so far.
In response to the growing needs in international markets, we are developing courses specifically for content makers. Many social media influencers and content creators follow their gut as they gain popularity, but as the audience grows so do the challenges and the desire to remain authentic. This training coaches them in key skills such as accountability, accuracy and independence; to name but a few, that will hugely benefit them as they move forwards in their career.
Essential and future facing skills for content makers, producers and journalists, our media skills classes are built from the collective expertise and experience of our trainers, along with expert insights from talent at the pioneering edge of the media industry. We work closely with practitioners within the field to ensure our delegates get the best and most up to date understanding and practical skills while on our courses. Our aim is for delegates to leave our courses enriched, inspired and confident to apply what they have learned in the workplace.
